Before You Surrender: Resources To Keep Your Pet

At All Paws Count, we view owner surrenders as the last resort. Placing pets in a shelter is incredibly difficult for them. We reserve the right to refuse surrenders, however, we are always happy to suggest alternatives.

Keep in mind that the majority of returns can be avoided. Dogs truly do not need as much time as many adopters think they do, and several studies have shown that between 30 minutes and 2 hours (depending on breed) of quality time with their owner is all a dog needs to feel happy and loved. Many people seem to feel that they are doing their dog a favor by giving them up, but in actuality, the majority of dogs are better off remaining in a home they know and love.

Surrender Information

All surrenders are by appointment only. We do not accept walk-ins. If you have found a stray animal or lost a pet, please call your local shelter or animal control.

You must bring your pet's medical records with you to the appointment, or we will not accept your surrender.

Schedule your appointment online or by phone 385-355-4738.
